THE MOST OVERLOOKED TELLTALE SIGN OF AGING

Image
Photo courtesy http://www.medaesthetics.com.au/surgical/lip-lift/ I never thought that as I age I'd be envious of men and their facial hair. They're able to camouflage double chins with their beards and their mustaches conceal one of the biggest telltale signs of aging: the upper lip. It took me a while to figure out why tight jawlines, filled out cheeks, foreheads injected with Botox and poreless, lasered faces didn't make most women look younger.......and then I realized it all starts with the upper lip. For the longest time I hated when women would fill their nasal labial lines (laugh lines) because they all ended looking like some version of the cartoon character Homer Simpson. Doctors have improved immensely over the years, but you still see it everywhere.  As we age the distance between the vermillion/pink of our lips and the nose grow as we age. Some of it in part is from gravity. Another reason is because our lips and skin lose a little volume each year. Sometimes ...

CAN YOU BREATHE YOURSELF THIN?

On a weekly basis people ask me my opinion about freezing fat in order to lose weight or get rid of cellulite. I tell them I've never heard of a skinny Eskimo and if they have any doubt about my opinion they can park their butts on the frigid asphalt and notify me of their weight loss results. I still have yet to find anyone to accept the challenge. In addition, I've stored my fair share of meat in the freezer and I can't recall ever seeing the fat dissipate out of the Ziploc bags. Cold will reduce inflammation. Inflammation can be in the form of swelling, but I've personally NEVER lost weight waiting for the bus in Chicago in -20 temps. However the weight loss and fitness industry has sure spent billions to educate us about burning fat, but when we burn fat where exactly does it go? According to studies from the University of New South Wales in Australia 80% of fat leaves the body through the lungs.    The measurement of CO2 (the waste our bodies breathe out) indicates...

BEST WAY TO APPLY EYE CREAM

Image
I've searched all over youtube only to find most people don't actually know how to apply eye cream. Somehow this post requires me to do a video which I will eventually get around to, but first let's break down eye creams. Most eye creams contain irritants that bring blood flow to the surface of the skin and puff out wrinkles. This usually causes nothing but irritation and thinning of that delicate tissue around the eyes. If you ask me it can be quite counter productive. I'm not personally a big fan of eye cream to begin with, but when I got into skincare I realized that the tissue around the eye actually does need extra care and protection. Those windows to the soul can also be telltale windows to aging. If you couldn't tell from the video I'm personally a huge fan of eye roller balls. They usually contain caffeine to reduce water puff and swelling around the eyes. The steel roller ball itself it quite cooling, but the best part is there is no tugging on that sk...

HOW TO FIX BUMPY ARMS AND SKIN

Image
Photo courtesy of Merchmanuals.com Today is a partial repost of another blog I write for called Beauty212.  I decided to do this quick repost because so many people have been emailing me about bumpy arms and ingrown hairs in their bikini lines. There's an annoying skin condition that is common with many teenagers and adults. It's called Keratosis Pilaris aka "chicken skin". It's those hard, rough bumps that tend to be red in coloration found around the back of the arms or on the sides of the legs and even butt. These bumps are a buildup of skin in the pores. If you try to exfoliate it just ends up irritating the skin. Retin-A helps, but in the end you make yourself more prone to the sun and skin cancer. Most people I know just pick at it endlessly making bigger bumps and scars out of anxiety.  There are easier solutions out there. A natural solution is Papaya. Papaya has a natural enzyme that eats the dead cells. You can try this mask I did a video on https://w...
