TOP 3 BEAUTY OIL WARNINGS

Image
http://www.seedguides.info/grapeseed-oil/#Grape-Seed-Oil-For-Skin-Care BEAUTY OILS DO NOT "MOISTURIZE" If you haven't noticed there's a BIG beauty oil phenomenon going on and I find consumers very confused. In fact, beauty companies are always trying to find the next exotic oil to bring to market because consumers have been brainwashed into thinking beauty oils are the ultimate moisturizer. My biggest beef with beauty oils is that beauty oils only seal moisture in the skin, they don't give skin moisture or hydrate it. For some reason the mainstream media is either misinformed or fails to leave this information out. As we age we dry up and lose our own natural oils in our skin, which causes us to lose the ability to retain moisture or for our cells to protect themselves. If you're not drinking enough water or eating enough foods with water content in them (or sweating too much out at spin class or hot yoga), a beauty oil is certainly not going to plump up the ...

THREE SKINCARE INGREDIENTS TO AVOID

Image
There is a magazine that many top skin pros subscribe to called Dermascope Magazine. I may not agree with everything they say, but they are and continue to be a wealth of information. I would like to note and highlight an article they did in their 2009 October issue called Ten Things About...Toxic Ingredients. There are three types of ingredients that we really need to be conscious of even if you're not into natural skincare. S.D. ALCOHOL S.D. Alcohol is an ingredient used in SO many skincare products today. I know this because it's very difficult for my lash extension customers to find products without it. Alcohol loosens the bond of their glues. According to Dermascope "S.D. Alcohol can cause severe dryness, hyperpigmentation and the defatting of the stratum corneum barrier which protects the skin".  In other words that alcohol that companies are using high up on their list of ingredients is aging your skin faster by drying it out and compromising your skin's pr...

HOW CAFFEINE MAY BE AGING YOU

Image
The most popular belief out there is that coffee/caffeine is a diuretic and thus the amount of hydration we lose contributes to advanced aging.........well perhaps if you drank 3 or more cups, went to a Bikram yoga class and never drank water or ate fresh foods that already contain water this might be a really big issue. Anything less than a gallon a day of water for me and my forehead lines begin to appear and I get cranky and hungry. I am the exception. It is popularly advised we should drink half of our weight in ounces of water each day.  Note that it's important not to throw off your electrolytes so it might be a good idea to increase your water intake gradually. Throw some coconut water into your diet while you're at it to help balance out those electrolytes.  Moving along..... the biggest culprit behind caffeine is something rarely ever discussed: Magnesium deficiency.  Magnesium is the number one mineral that our body needs and caffeine actually robs us of magnesi...

TOP 5 WAYS TO GET GLOWING SKIN

Image
Today was another proud day for me. When I told one of my customers I was doing a post about how to get glowing skin she responded "well of course it comes from within".  She is SO correct. It heartens me to know that my customers listen and put into practice the anti-aging way of life and that these posts are more for readers who are not my direct customers or the very few customers who choose not to listen. 1. COLD-PRESSED OMEGAS- For some reason the press has the entire world thinking there is one omega- omega 3. In my studies it's actually the omegas 5 and 7 that have the biggest impact on skin. How do I know this? A brand called Nude used to carry THE BEST cold pressed vegetable-sourced omegas. Within 2 weeks clients would return to my office with the creamiest, dreamiest skin. It literally did all of my work for me! Most of them already took cold-pressed omega 3,6,9, but when you add that 5 and 7,  BOY! I have pleaded with Nude over the years, but alas they ...

ARE YOU WASTING YOUR MONEY ON VITAMINS?

Image
I don't know many people that are getting a truly balanced, unprocessed diet. This means in order to stay productive and youthful our nutrients have to come from somewhere. That also goes without saying I worry when I see people taking $100's in vitamins a month because they read about the latest plant, herb or superfruit (which may or may not actually be in the supplement they are buying and killing their liver in the process). Our bodies are a major chemistry set and you can really throw it off balance if you don't know what you are doing. Magnesium and Calcium- the perfect example of elements that must be balanced or you could induce a heart attack or end up with brittle bones and teeth! More importantly you're wasting your money if you're deficient in vitamin B-12. B-12...
