ADULT ACNE
Thank goodness I found a video filled with great information so I don't have to do one!
It may be long, but if you're plagued by adult breakouts this is worth the watch.
Over the last few years I have really been seeing an increase in adult acne. Here are a few reasons why:
-Lack of Sleep (body's protective barrier- acid mantle becomes compromised)
-Lack of hydration (water- need to be able to remove toxins and keep up cellular moisture)
-Lack of hydration (oil keeps the body from having to produce more oil because it is dry. It also keeps the skin elastic)
-Stress (disturbs the body's overall function)
-Hormones (periods generally increase oil production in the skin)
-Lifestyle Changes (working out, sleeping in makeup, change of beauty products, etc)
-Diet (sugar, wheat, non-organic meat or dairy, CAFFEINE!!!)
-Makeup contamination
-Picking- under stress and anxiety people love to pick. Picking make a pimple go to a cyst and spreads the acne. You know what I'm talking about!

For the record I want to say that most over the counter products for acne are waaaaay too harsh for the skin. Acne generally likes oil and the products on the market are meant to turnover as much dead skin and dry the skin out as much as possible since that is often the perfect environment for acne.
Here are a few quick solutions for my acne sufferers:
Rebalance your skin with alcohol-free toners like Dickinson's Witch Hazel pads.

Cleanse your skin with a natural milk cleanser twice a day.
Don't go to sleep or even work out in your makeup.
Get sleep!

Stay away from processed foods and non-organic meats and dairy. You don't need the added hormones to throw off your body (even though the science community does not agree).
Use disposable makeup applicators EACH time you apply makeup. Better yet, use an airbrush when possible to avoid touching the skin all together.
